2025 FIELD TRIPS

This is a list of field trips for the Paradise Gem and Mineral Club for 2025.  The field trips occur the second Saturday of each month and are subject to change depending on weather or extenuating circumstances.

January  Eggleston Rancheria

(miscellaneous rough lapidary rocks)

February Burris Creek

(jasper) and Stonyford Reservoir (Chico formation clam fossils)

March  Fallon, NV 

Dead Camel/Bomb Agate Trip #1  (jasper, agate, quartz, geodes)

April No field trip as we will all be getting together to prepare for our annual rock show!!!!

May  Quincy Quarry, CA 

(a great introduction to rockhounding, calcite, travertine)

June Davis Creek, CA

(near Alturas, great obsidian location)

An unofficial trip is planned for Prineville, OR to visit the Prineville Rockhound Pow-Wow (imagine a four day rock show with field trips).  I will be going to scout out potential sites for the future.  This is probably the biggest rock show in Oregon and worth a visit.

July   Fallon, NV 

Dead Camel/Bomb Agate/Wonderstone Trip #2  (jasper, agate, quartz, geodes, wonderstone, marble)

The reason for 2 trips to the Dead Camel mountains is this site will be closed soon.  The US Navy has purchased the area for weapons testing and as soon as the fence is built nobody will be able to access the sites.

September  Granger Canyon, CA

(petrified wood) and Tuledad Canyon (abundant jasper and agate)

October        Lovelock, NV

(birdseye ryolite, quartz with garnets)

November  Lassen Lands, CA
